A Great 4th

We were so blessed to be able to spend the 4th of July this year in Birmingham with Jackson's Nana and Grandaddy (my parents) and all of his Uncles. We even got to visit Mom Z and Dad Z, Uncle Mike and Aunt Mary and spend the afternoon out on the lake. Uncle Mike found Jackson a life jacket that was the perfect fit... though he looked like a little eskimo in it and couldn't see where he was walking. He had to be guided down to the peer, and the first time he let go of my hand he took one step and fell right over on the concrete. Thankfully he only had a little scrape on his forehead. We watched the fireworks in Birmingham from the parking lot behind the house. We had to pass Jackson around between all the family members there so he wouldn't get bored. He looked at the fireworks some, but they were too far away for him to hear the explosions, so he was more interested in the nerf ball Caleb had wedged down in the front pocket of his overalls. He spent most of the fireworks trying to pull that thing out! After the show was over, we went back to the house and had ice cream and cake provided by Memaw. What a great way to spend the 4th. I am so thankful to have my little family all together on this day when we all tend to think about the troops stationed overseas. How blessed I am to have my soldier home.
