yeah, he got that one from me
I remember the first time I heard one of my frequently used phrases come out of Jackson’s mouth, we were cruising down the road and he turned to the car speeding past us and said “where’s the fire, buddy?”
Note to self: Quote multiplication tables while driving.
It’s usually pretty hysterical when Jackson quotes Caleb or myself. You know, like looking in a little mirror, or a sponge, rather. Because WHAT GOES IN ALWAYS COMES BACK OUT… sometimes at the most inconvenient times.. like Publix, aisle five.
Or like Thursday, when I walked through the livingroom and happened to open the entertainment center doors and was knocked flat by a BLAST of hot air from the Xbox, which had overheated to the point of the red ring of death. (This is the error indicator that’s displayed when the machine bakes until shutdown from lack of air circulation. Sadly, it has a nickname.)
Upon seeing the red ring of death I panicked and screamed AHH and went running out of the room in search of a floor fan. I was unhooking the box, holding it up against the fan, and, okay I admit it, praying for healing and being all THIS IS THE END! NO BOX COULD SURVIVE SUCH A HEATSTROKE WITHOUT SERIOUS BRAIN DAMAGE!
At that point Jackson walks over, get’s right down in my face, holding his hands up like someone trying to placate a mental-ward escapee, and says
“Just calllllllm down, Mommy. You’re not gonna die.”
