according to Jack

While driving down the road one day…

Jack: “Mommy! Stop! Stop the car!”

Me: “Why?! What’s the matter??”

Jack: “The light is red. Red means stop.”

Me: “Umm… yeah. If it’s all the same to you I’d like to stop up there when I get to the light instead of back here half a mile away.”

Jack: “Mommy. Green means go, and yellow means slow, and red means stop stop STOP!”

Me: “That’s right, buddy. But don’t scream in the car unless you have a serious emergency.”

While sitting at the red light…

Jack: “Mommy! Go! GO! GO! DRIVE! Green means go!!”

Me: “Jack, I can’t go right now!”

Jack: “Why not?”

Me: “Because there’s four cars in front of me and I can’t run into them.”

Jack: “Why not?”

Me: “Because I don’t want to have a wreck.”

Jack: “Why not?”

Me: “Because it’s not a very nice thing to do.”

Jack: “Why not?”

Me: “uh… OKAY, we’re moving now.”

Guess the alternative to answering his incessant "why not" questions isn't that great either. "Mommy? Mommy? Mommy? Mommy? Mommy? Mommy? Mommy? ....." Got to love him. Pretty soon it'll be two little boys asking the same question. :-)
