Instructions for a successful pie:
1. Make pie.
2. Be reluctant to throw away extra pie filling.
3. Turn leftover pie filling into a child-sized treat.
4. Document children’s reactions, including 2-year-old’s squeal of delight and 4-year-old’s “Mommy, you made these just for us??”
5. Realize no matter how the actual pie turns out, you’ve already succeeded this morning.
