As we trekked from the cars to a grassy spot overlooking the lake, our arms full of balloons, cake, streamers, and photography equipment, I knew I was in for a fun time. When Karen contacted me about taking some photos to send to her husband, who is deployed and missing sweet little Brylei’s 1st birthday, she failed to mention how incredibly talented she is with a sewing machine. My jaw dropped when I discovered she handmade their outfits. And then she pulled out the matching Happy Birthday banner and I died.

So much good fun in the late afternoon sunshine.
