And now I know what all the fuss is about, why people drive an hour each way to get covered in sap, pick a tree that may or may not fit the space in their living room, and worry about said tree flying off their roof as they do 75 down the interstate. Having a real tree is much more stressful and twice as fun.

Top things we’ve learned this year:

a. buy a stand that will hold an 8 ft tree even if you scoff at the idea of an 8 ft tree in your house. Do yourself a favor and don’t be searching stores after bedtime on Sunday night. Which brings me to…

b. what looks tiny in the line of trees on the farm WILL look huge in your house.
