after the rain
It finally rained. It rained all day. Dumped buckets of cleansing mouthwash all over our pollen encrusted corner. When it stopped you could hearing the leaves sighing with relief, like one does during a cherished bath after a grimy day. The birds sang just a little bit louder, and we all breathed a little deeper just because the air smelled so clean all at once. And because we know it won’t last very long we were outside rinsing the cars just as soon as the sun peaked through.
