All the men in this family have blue eyes. The older they get, the lighter and more startling their eyes become. Caleb’s eyes are so bright blue they look white in bright sunlight. And then there’s me, the one who sticks out. My eyes are so dark brown they just look black, so when we get the occasional scrutiny in the grocery store where the lady gushes over their blueness then glances at my face and gets tongue-tied, it’s easier to just say “They got them from their Daddy.” Except in reality I’m at least half responsible, and I’ll take that credit right now. Thanks.
