We have a mutual understanding, he and I. He never fibs about being sick in order to stay home from school and in return I trust him when he wakes up Monday morning and says he can’t go. Even though I couldn’t find a thing wrong, I let him stay home with us. Sure enough, by lunch time he’d popped a fever and lost his appetite.
But you’d be amazed what an afternoon of laziness and a nap under a pile of blankets can fix.
