your camera misses you

004

Last night I was flipping through a magazine when I turned a page and read this phrase:

“Your camera misses you”

It was at the top of an add for photography software and the words captured me. I tend to view winter as the black hole of the year. There are fewer hours and less sunshine. Photos are darker and they feel less like my style. I’ve always thought of this as a handicap and it means I frequently give up and leave my camera sitting unused for days. Sometimes I miss a beautiful moment because I’m afraid to contend with a darker photo. Which is just not a very good reason.

So I tore that page out of the magazine and I got outside in the rain to catch a beautiful moment and this year I hope to make “there’s not enough light” never be an excuse again.
