a taste of summer

007

I thought we were going to be wearing jackets all year long based on the past few weeks. But warmer weather has decided to appear just in time for Memorial Day. The grass needs clipping every three days and I’m pedal to the metal on the last few garage projects because everything takes so much longer when you have to battle the Alabama summer heat.

A few of us (okay, everyone except me) tested the water over the weekend. It was a little chilly but that doesn’t stop serious lake folk. What’s a few blue lips and chattering teeth? It’s summer and the dock beckons.

I collected an armful of eggs from the coop yesterday after we got home. It’s a little astonishing to see so many at once as we usually eat them just as fast as the chickens can lay. “We are rich in eggs!” – Jonathan.
